Unit D101 is a ground-floor condo at Sapphire Beach Resort & Marina on St. Thomas. The path from the door to the resort pool, the beach bar and the edge of the sand is level, and the bathroom has a stone-tiled walk-in shower rather than a tub to step over. The condo has not been certified as accessible and we have not measured doorways, thresholds or turning space, so if you use a wheelchair, a walker or a rollator, message the host before booking and she will measure anything you need.

Why the ground floor matters here
One level, from the bed to the beach bar
Most beachfront units at a resort like this are stacked, and the ones with the best views are upstairs. D101 is the exception: it is a corner unit on the beach level, so it has the views and the flat walk. Guests carrying coolers, beach gear, a toddler or a bad knee notice the difference on day one.
Inside, the condo is a single level with no interior steps. The bathroom was rebuilt with a stone-tiled walk-in shower with a low threshold and a double sink. The living area opens through glass doors onto the covered patio, which is at the same level as the path outside.
